Most pest control companies do a little bit of everything. Ants. Spiders. Termites. Wasps. And yeah, they’ll handle your mouse problem too — somewhere between the ant spray and the gopher traps.
We don’t do any of that.
Rodent Killer does one thing: we get rodents out of your house and make sure they can’t get back in. That’s it. No bug spraying. No termite tenting. No mosquito fogging. Just mice, rats, and the exclusion work that actually solves the problem.
Why does that matter?
Because rodent control isn’t pest control. It’s construction. It’s finding every gap, crack, and hole in your home — some of them smaller than a nickel — and sealing them with materials that mice can’t chew through. Steel mesh. Metal flashing. Hardware cloth. Concrete. That’s skilled work, and it takes someone who does it every single day.
When you call a general pest company, you get a technician who did a termite inspection this morning and an ant treatment before lunch. When you call us, you get someone who spent the entire day in attics and crawlspaces tracking down rodent entry points. That’s the difference.
Who We Are
Rodent Killer was built on one observation: homeowner calls about mice, company sets traps, mice come back in 3 weeks, homeowner calls again. Repeat for months. Sometimes years.
The problem was never the traps. The problem was that nobody was sealing the house.
That’s why Rodent Killer exists. Every job starts with a full inspection, includes professional trapping, and ends with complete exclusion — sealing every entry point so nothing gets back in. It’s the step most companies skip because it takes real time and real skill. We don’t skip it.

Why South Lake Tahoe
We’re based in South Lake Tahoe because this is where the work is. The town sits at 6,225 feet in the Sierra Nevada — lodgepole pine forest on one side, the lake on the other, and thousands of cabins and second homes in between. It’s prime deer mouse habitat, and when the first snow hits in October, every mouse within range is looking for a warm house.
We know these neighborhoods:
- Tahoe Keys — Canals and docks, ground-floor living close to water. One of the few spots where Norway rats show up. House mice run the canal-side fences and get in through worn garage-door seals.
- Bijou Park — Older cabins, many on pier foundations. Deer mice move in underneath and climb up into the walls. Open subfloors are a mouse condo.
- Highland Woods — Wooded lots and wood piles stacked against the house. The wood pile is a mouse hotel all summer; in fall, they walk straight off the pile and into the house.
- Stateline — Vacation rentals and second homes that sit empty for weeks. Nobody’s around to hear the scratching. Colonies build for a whole season before an owner opens the door.
- Heavenly Valley — Slopeside homes buried in snow October through March. Snow piles warp garage-door seals and create sheltered tunnels right up to the house.
- Tahoe Island and Tahoe Valley — Classic Tahoe A-frames and chalets with big open gables and vent screens that haven’t been touched in twenty years.
- Sierra Tract — Heavy tree cover. Deer mice come off the tree line in September and October, right when the first snow pushes them out of the forest floor.
- Bijou Pines — Larger homes with attached garages used as storage. Seed, pet food, cardboard boxes — it’s all food and nesting material.
- Gardner Mountain — Cabins tucked into the trees that go dark from November to April. Vacant cabins are where we find the worst infestations.
We’ve worked in all of them. We know which neighborhoods get hit hardest, which species show up where, and exactly where the entry points are on each era of Tahoe construction.
What Makes Us Different
We only do rodents
Every hour of training, every tool in the truck, and every page on this website is about one thing. When you search “rodent control South Lake Tahoe,” you should get a company that does nothing but rodent control. That’s us.
We seal the house — every time
Trapping without exclusion is like bailing water without plugging the leak. We seal every entry point with materials rated to stop rodents: galvanized steel mesh, metal flashing, steel wool, hardware cloth, and cement. Not foam. Not caulk. Materials that mice can’t chew through.
We show you what we find
Before we do anything, you get a full inspection report with photos. Every entry point. Every sign of activity. Every area of concern. No surprises and no mystery charges.
We give you real prices up front
Check our pricing page. We don’t hide behind “call for a quote.” You’ll know what the inspection covers, what trapping costs, and what full exclusion runs before we touch anything.
We don’t use poison inside your home
Exterior bait stations are locked boxes placed around your property perimeter. Kids and pets can’t open them. Inside your home, we use professional snap traps placed along confirmed runways. No loose poison. No risk of a mouse dying inside your wall from bait it ate in your attic.
We’re honest about what you’re dealing with
Most “rat” calls in South Lake Tahoe turn out to be deer mice or house mice. We tell you what’s actually in your walls — because the treatment depends on it. And we tell you up front if a job doesn’t need us. No fake reviews, no fake awards, no inflated claims. Just straight answers.
